The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) is on the verge of achieving a two-thirds majority in Nepal's parliamentary elections. As of Monday morning, the party has clinched 124 seats through direct voting, and accumulated over 40 lakh votes in the proportionate-voting system.

The Nepali Congress (NC) and other parties, including the CPN-UML and Nepal Communist Party (NCP), followed behind with significantly fewer seats. The NC secured 17 seats, while the CPN-UML and NCP captured eight and seven seats respectively. Meanwhile, results for 161 out of 165 seats have been declared, leaving outcomes for the remaining four seats to be announced in the afternoon.

In terms of vote counts under the proportionate voting system, the RSP leads with 4,049,604 votes. This sweeping victory positions the RSP for a commanding presence in the 275-member House of Representatives, setting the stage for Nepal to have its first Madhesi prime minister, Balendra Shah, who will also be the youngest elected executive head in the nation's history.
