Insufficient Budget Allocation Sparks Debate in Manipur Legislature

Singh raised concerns during a discussion of the 2026-27 budget estimates, pointing to the loss of homes, properties, and businesses. He also questioned the distribution mechanism of Rs 350 crore allocated for women empowerment, a scheme benefiting 3.5 lakh women in the state.

Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh acknowledged the concern, noting the allocation stretches over multiple fiscal years to draw attention to the long-term rehabilitation plan set by the Manipur government.
