In a significant development, the Delhi Police have apprehended the main contractor linked to a fatal incident in Janakpuri, West Delhi. Himanshu Gupta, responsible for overseeing the excavation of a perilous sewage pit, was taken into custody after a month-long pursuit.
The incident, which tragically resulted in the death of Kamal Dhyani, a 25-year-old bank employee, occurred when his motorcycle plunged into the unsecured, 15-foot-deep pit on the night of February 5. The Delhi Jal Board's ongoing work reportedly left the pit open, posing a danger to local residents.
Family members of the deceased, Kamal Dhyani, expressed relief at the arrest and reiterated their demand for strict legal action. Police officials have brought Gupta back to Delhi for further interrogation, with court proceedings expected to follow.
