Macron's Firm Stance: France’s Role in Strait of Hormuz
President Emmanuel Macron of France expressed refusal to engage in operations to unblock the Strait of Hormuz, countering U.S. President Donald Trump's claims of France's willingness to participate. Macron emphasized France's neutral stance and the country's plans to form a coalition independent of the U.S. once the situation stabilizes.
France's President Emmanuel Macron has firmly stated that the country will not engage in military operations to unblock the Strait of Hormuz. In a decisive announcement on Tuesday, Macron countered U.S. President Donald Trump's assertions that France would support U.S.-backed efforts in the region.
While speaking at the White House, Trump mentioned having a discussion with Macron, rating his stance as an '8 out of 10' for his approach to unblocking the Strait. However, Macron clarified during a cabinet meeting focused on Middle Eastern conflicts that France intends to stay out of the current conflict.
Macron further explained that France is working on assembling a coalition to secure the strategic maritime corridor once a resolution is reached and tensions de-escalate. This effort would not involve the U.S., indicating France's intention to handle the situation independently when calm is restored.
