The Gujarat assembly complex was the target of a bomb threat email on Wednesday morning, coinciding with the ongoing budget session. The threat, later determined to be a hoax, caused a significant disruption and a delay in proceedings as a thorough search was conducted.
Minutes before the session was set to begin, the email claimed a bomb had been planted within the assembly premises, prompting an evacuation. Deputy Superintendent of Police Piyush Vanda confirmed that all present were asked to vacate as a safety precaution.
After an hour of inspection by the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad, Superintendent Ravi Teja Vasamsetty declared the premises safe, allowing the session to resume. Legislators have called for strict action against those responsible to maintain Gujarat's peaceful atmosphere.
