Speculation surrounding the expansion of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami's cabinet in Uttarakhand is gaining momentum, with insider sources suggesting the process may occur during this Navratri.
With less than a year until the state assembly elections, there's a strong possibility that all five vacant cabinet posts will soon be filled. Initially, upon commencing its second term in 2022, the BJP swore in Dhami with eight ministers.
With Uttarakhand allowed a maximum of 12 cabinet members, the cabinet's strength reduced following the death of Social Welfare and Transport Minister Chandan Ramdas in April 2023, and the resignation of Prem Chand Agarwal, creating five vacant positions. Prominent discussions with the BJP central leadership signal an imminent cabinet expansion as part of the Dhami government's commitment to development and good governance.
