The political landscape in Uttarakhand is poised for significant change as Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami prepares to expand his cabinet. Official sources confirm that a ceremony for the swearing-in of new ministers is scheduled for Friday at Lok Bhavan, beginning at 10 AM.
The move comes amid several speculations and repeated delays in the past concerning cabinet expansion, which were never realized. As constitutional provisions allow Uttarakhand up to 12 cabinet members, this development aims to fill the current five vacant posts following recent political vacancies.
The need for new appointments became more pressing after a dip in the cabinet's strength due to the death of Social Welfare and Transport Minister Chandan Ramdas in April 2023 and the resignation of Parliamentary Affairs and Finance Minister Prem Chand Agarwal last year.
