Congress leader Shashi Tharoor has expressed concern over the ongoing conflict in West Asia, declaring that the damage inflicted has "crossed all acceptable limits." Speaking at an event on Friday, Tharoor stressed the need for immediate de-escalation, citing the conflict's adverse effects on India and the wider region.
Tharoor called for international cooperation, proposing that India should spearhead efforts to halt the hostilities. He emphasized the importance of diplomatic intervention, noting that the conflict is causing harm to innocent civilians and increasing economic pressures due to rising oil prices and disrupted gas supplies.
Addressing the recent comments by Congress leader Shama Mohamed on women's representation in politics, Tharoor supported greater inclusion, lamenting the current low allocation of tickets to female candidates. He stressed that future women's reservation policies could lead to fairer opportunities for women in leadership roles.
