Kerala CM Criticizes Controversial FCRA Amendment

Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan condemned the Centre for ignoring minority concerns regarding the FCRA amendment, accusing it of being politically motivated. He warned it could harm minority communities, urging its withdrawal. Vijayan criticized the government's divisive stance influenced by the RSS, challenging the amendment's democratic and social justice implications.

On Wednesday, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan critiqued the Centre for allegedly disregarding minority community worries over the FCRA amendment, describing it as politically charged. Speaking at a press conference, Vijayan argued that the amendment might harm minorities and institutions they operate, with potential property consequences for accounts non-compliance.

Vijayan highlighted the growing unease among minority communities, pointing out that numerous Church leaders have voiced their concerns. Yet, he contended that the Union government remains indifferent to these issues. He emphasized the government's duty to foster societal unity, warning that such legislative actions could undermine national interests.

Vijayan further implicated the BJP-led central government of being swayed by RSS ideologies, suggesting their known adversarial stance towards minorities. He described the amendment as a dangerous shift, part of an agenda aiming to control social activities and silence opposition. He called for an immediate repeal of the amendment, asserting it contradicts the principles of democracy and social justice.
