BJP Unveils Candidates for Tamil Nadu Assembly Polls Amidst Annamalai's Absence

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday released a list of 27 candidates for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, notably omitting former state president K Annamalai from the slate. Union Minister L Murugan and former Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan were among the key names announced.

Despite Annamalai's significant role in previous elections, his absence from the candidate list has stirred speculation about party dynamics. In response, Annamalai stated he remains dedicated to his party duties, suggesting his exclusion was aligned with the party's strategic decisions, as explained by BJP State Election In-Charge Piyush Goyal.

Among the other notable candidates named are Mahila Morcha national president Vanathi Srinivasan, set to contest from Coimbatore North, and Kirthika Shivkumar from Modakkurichi. The election for Tamil Nadu's 234-member Assembly is scheduled for April 23, with results declared on May 4.
