BJP leader K Annamalai has made a clear decision to step aside from contesting in the upcoming elections, choosing instead to channel his efforts into strategic campaigning for the party. He recently returned from a campaign stint in Kerala to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Chennai, reinforcing his commitment to the BJP's larger electoral goals.
Despite speculation, Annamalai stressed he was not included in the list of candidates for the April 23 election, as his focus remains on rallying support for BJP and NDA candidates across Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and Kerala. He emphasized that his current role, assigned by the party, is crucial for the NDA's target of securing 210 assembly seats.
During a 'closed-door meeting' with state BJP leaders, Annamalai reiterated his decision to abstain from running, clarifying with top party officials, including Piyush Goyal, B L Santosh, and Nitin Nabin. His meeting with PM Modi is anticipated to discuss overall election strategies, further solidifying Annamalai's integral role in the campaigns ahead.
