Chaos hit the Kolkata Metro on Saturday as services on the North-South corridor faced disruption following a shocking incident.

A 40-year-old woman attempted to take her life by jumping onto the tracks at Kalighat station at around 1:06 pm.

Quick action by the motorman prevented a tragedy as the train was halted just in time, allowing for the woman's rescue and subsequent hospitalization. The disruption led to truncated services from Maidan to Dakshineswar and Mahanayak Uttam Kumar to Sahid Khudiram for a brief 20 minutes, but normalcy was restored by 1:29 pm.
