In a recent interview with Fox Business, President Donald Trump issued a stark warning, threatening to terminate Jerome Powell's position should he choose to remain on the Federal Reserve's governing board after his term expires next month.

Despite an ongoing investigation, Powell has expressed his intention to remain in his position. He would do so either until a successor is confirmed or, if necessary, beyond his term as chair if the investigation continues.

Trump, dissatisfied with Powell's pace in implementing interest rate cuts, nominated Kevin Warsh as his successor. However, Warsh's confirmation has hit a stumbling block, with a Justice Department probe delaying proceedings.
