Shiv Sena (UBT) leader, Uddhav Thackeray, has urged the central government to enforce the 2023 Women Reservation Act immediately. The act mandates a 33 per cent quota for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies.
Thackeray insists that the delimitation process, or redrawing of constituencies, should be paused, highlighting its importance to the nation's future beyond political affiliations.
His remarks came as Parliament commenced a special session to debate amendments to the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam. The session included discussions on increasing Lok Sabha seats to facilitate women's quota implementation by 2029, post-delimitation based on the latest census data.
