Brazil's President, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, is set to visit Spain for critical discussions with his Spanish counterpart, Pedro Sanchez. The meetings aim to address the rising threat of far-right populism and safeguard democratic values globally.

Amid a backdrop of political upheaval, Lula and Sanchez, alongside other world leaders, will engage in dialogue at Barcelona's former royal palace. Their discussions are expected to lead to agreements on economic, technological, and social policies, highlighting their commitment to progressive politics despite pressures from reactionary entities.

The two-day event will also feature a defense of democracy forum and the inaugural Global Progressive Mobilisation, where leaders such as European Council President Antonio Costa and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa will gather. This assembly underscores the urgency of counteracting the populist far-right's influence and bolstering global democratic frameworks.
