The Tipra Motha Party (TMP), under the leadership of Pradyot Debbarma, secured a substantial victory in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council elections, winning 24 out of the 28 contested seats. According to the State Election Commission, the remaining four seats were won by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
Despite being allies at the state level, the TMP and BJP contested the council elections separately. This electoral outcome underlines the growing influence of the TMP within the tribal areas of Tripura, where the council governs a significant portion of the state's geography.
The commanding win demonstrates the TMP's strong connection with the tribal community, which has rallied around its call for a 'Greater Tipraland.' Debbarma responded to the victory by urging peace and collaboration, emphasizing the importance of working for the community and future generations.
