Senator Bernie Sanders announces run for US president in 2020

Senator Bernie Sanders announces he is running for US president in 2020. Sanders is serving as the junior United States Senator from Vermont since 2007. The longest-serving Independent in congressional history, he was first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1990.

"We began the political revolution in the 2016 campaign, and now it's time to move that revolution forward," he said. "Now, it is time to complete that revolution and implement the vision that we fought for."

He released a video announcing his run on Twitter later Tuesday morning.
