The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has lodged a formal complaint with the Election Commission against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, accusing him of making inflammatory and intimidating statements during election campaigning in West Bengal.

The TMC claims that Sarma's remarks at a public rally in Cooch Behar on April 16 violated the election Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and other legal provisions. The party alleges that his comments aimed at West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee were defamatory and intended to incite communal tensions.

Sarma, meanwhile, dismissed the allegations, stating at a rally in Dinhata that he merely spoke the truth. The TMC has demanded the Election Commission take action against Sarma and the BJP.
