Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a high-profile visit to North Kolkata on Sunday, holding a roadshow in the midst of the heated West Bengal Assembly elections. Before commencing the roadshow, he paid respects at the Thanthania Kalibari, seeking blessings from Ma Kali.

Earlier, addressing a massive rally in Bangaon, Modi criticized the TMC government's rule as 'Jungle Raj,' pledging transformative changes for women's empowerment if the BJP is elected. He emphasized women's plight under the current regime, citing incidents of abuse and lawlessness, and vowed to bring culprits to justice.

Modi announced ambitious plans for women, including a direct deposit of Rs 36,000 annually into their accounts, a 33% quota in government jobs, and health benefits worth Rs 5 lakh. He also promised free cancer screenings and financial aid for pregnant women and graduates, as Bengal prepares for the next election phase.
