The Election Commission mandated a police crackdown on illegal bomb manufacturing in West Bengal, coinciding with upcoming assembly elections. The directive calls for immediate arrests and showcases a zero-tolerance stance on electoral violence, as articulated by a senior official.
An alarming cache of around 100 crude bombs was discovered at a home linked to a TMC worker in Bhangar, raising concerns about potential disruptions during the polling period. This apprehension has prompted the involvement of the National Investigation Agency to handle all bomb-related cases.
In light of these developments, senior police officers throughout the state have been cautioned to maintain law and order with renewed vigilance. Enhanced surveillance aims to create a secure voting environment for a fearless electoral process. Bhangar, with voting set for April 29, recorded a remarkable 93.19% turnout during the first phase.
