In a significant political development, Rajya Sabha Chairman C P Radhakrishnan has accepted the merger of seven Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MPs with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). This action has boosted the BJP's strength in the Upper House to 113 members, while reducing AAP's representation to merely three MPs.

The seven MPs who made the switch are Raghav Chadha, Ashok Mittal, Harbhajan Singh, Sandeep Pathak, Vikramjit Sahney, Swati Maliwal, and Rajinder Gupta. Following the merger, the official Rajya Sabha website now lists these MPs under the BJP's members.

AAP MP Sanjay Singh has reacted by submitting a petition to Chairman Radhakrishnan, urging the disqualification of these MPs due to their defection, which the AAP claims is a departure from its core values and principles. The political realignment was finalized last Friday, signalling internal discontent within AAP.
