The IUML has expressed support for V D Satheesan as a potential CM candidate if the UDF comes to power in Kerala, drawing criticism from SNDP Yogam's Vellappally Natesan. The debate underscores tensions within the UDF about leadership while exit polls indicate a probable victory for the alliance.

The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), a pivotal player in Kerala’s United Democratic Front (UDF), signaled its endorsement of V D Satheesan for Chief Minister, should the UDF secure a win. This, however, ignited controversy as SNDP Yogam leader, Vellappally Natesan criticized the decision, suggesting it implies undue IUML influence within the coalition.
Sadik Ali Shihab Thangal, the IUML leader, indicated that the move reflects public sentiment—a stance that underscores the Congress's strategy of aligning its decisions with voter opinion. Natesan, on the other hand, argued that support for Satheesan as CM illuminates a perceived IUML dominance, warning of potential political instability.
Despite exit polls suggesting a UDF victory, internal conflicts within the Congress about leadership positions have been brought into the spotlight, with rival parties observing the unfolding situation closely. Vellappally Natesan further opined that the Left, under Pinarayi Vijayan, still holds voter interest, contesting the reliability of exit poll predictions.
