West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and TMC's national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee expressed confidence in securing over 200 seats out of 294 in the upcoming assembly election results. This assertion comes as the party prepares for vote counting, scheduled for May 4, following a two-phase election held in April.
During a virtual meeting with counting agents from 291 of the assembly seats, the leaders instructed them to stay vigilant and regularly update party leadership on the situation at counting centers. They emphasized the importance of remaining at the centers until the counting concludes and to treat exit poll predictions as unreliable.
As the election day nears, the atmosphere has been charged with worries of counting malpractice. TMC leaders, including Mamata Banerjee, voiced concerns over alleged irregularities and possible EVM tampering, prompting them to call for recounting in closely contested seats. The chief minister herself visited a counting center amid these speculations.
