In a heated exchange during the ongoing West Bengal Assembly elections, Trinamool Congress National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of threatening TMC cadre, including women. He addressed party workers through a video conference, urging them to resist the alleged intimidation tactics employed by the BJP.
Abhishek Banerjee dismissed the exit poll results predicting a BJP win, arguing that even the BJP is skeptical about their victory. He asserted that TMC is poised to secure more seats than in the 2021 elections. His sentiments were echoed by West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who criticized the exit polls as manipulative, aimed at influencing the stock market.
As repolling takes place in the South 24 Paraganas district amid claims of electoral manipulation, security has been heightened with the deployment of the Rapid Action Force. The voter turnout remains robust, while projections show a competitive race between the BJP and TMC. The final vote counting is set for May 4.
