West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, in a dramatic turn of events, regained a slender lead over BJP's Suvendu Adhikari in the Bhabanipur constituency during the assembly election counted by the Election Commission after the third round.

Despite trailing by nearly 2,000 votes earlier, Banerjee managed to recover an 800-vote lead over Adhikari. Confident in his prospects, Adhikari claimed potential victory, thanks largely to the Hindu-majority voting rounds.

The BJP-led alliance initially led with 140 seats as opposed to 73 by Mamata Banerjee's Trinamool Congress. The Election Commission projected the BJP nearly close to a majority with 178 seats. It's noteworthy how voter turnout achieved new heights, an impressive testament to democratic engagement.
