The daughter of the influential K Karunakaran was hopeful for a victory thanks to BJP's growing support, but finished third in the race.
Venugopal, who ran as a BJP candidate this time, was confident due to the party's focus on ensuring candidate success. However, she was comprehensively outpaced by UDF and CPI candidates.
