Umesh Meti Secures Bagalkot Victory in By-Elections

On Monday, Congress candidate Umesh Meti won the Bagalkot assembly seat in the by-elections held on April 9, defeating his opponent by a significant margin of 22,332 votes, according to the Election Commission. This victory follows the death of senior Congress MLA H Y Meti.
In the concurrent by-elections for the Davanagere South constituency, Congress candidate Samarth Mallikarjun is leading over BJP's Srinivasa T Dasakariyappa by a margin of 5,824 votes, though the final results are still pending.
The by-elections in both constituencies occurred due to the passing of the incumbent Congress MLAs. Umesh Meti, son of the late H Y Meti, succeeded in Bagalkot by capturing 98,919 votes, while his BJP rival, Veerabhadrayya Charantimath, collected 76,587 votes.
