Maharashtra Congress chief Harshwardhan Sapkal asserted on Monday that voters in South India have turned their backs on the Bharatiya Janata Party's 'divisive and toxic ideology' and the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Despite extensive efforts, including the use of central agencies and support from institutions, the BJP's attempt to sway the southern states fell flat.

Reacting to recent assembly election results, Sapkal highlighted the BJP's success in West Bengal and Assam, but noted its failure in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry. He celebrates Congress's victory in Kerala as a triumph for democracy and the Constitution, crediting it as a boost for the party nationwide.

Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant remarked on the BJP's performance in West Bengal, pointing to historical figures like Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, who opposed divisive ideologies. Sawant critiqued the BJP's celebration in Bose's birthplace, linking back to its controversial historical ties.
