In a surprising turn of events in Kerala's political landscape, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan managed to secure a win from the Dharmadom constituency, despite the Left Democratic Front's overall struggles in the Assembly elections.
Trailing until the sixth round of counting, Vijayan ultimately triumphed with a margin of 19,247 votes against Kerala Congress candidate V P Abdul Rasheed, who posed a significant challenge with 66,367 votes to Vijayan's 85,614.
This marks Vijayan's third consecutive win in Dharmadom, a feat achieved in a region typically seen as a bastion for the LDF, albeit with a diminished victory margin compared to the 2021 elections, where he had secured a much larger margin of over 45,000 votes.
