In a surprising political upheaval, Vijay's fledgling party, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), has emerged as a formidable force in Tamil Nadu's political landscape, presenting an alternative to the established Dravidian heavyweights - AIADMK and DMK.
Despite being a new entrant with mostly novice candidates, TVK has secured an impressive position with victories in nine constituencies and leads in 94 others as per the Election Commission of India data. The development suggests a rising demand among voters for fresh faces and a departure from traditional dynastic politics.
Reacting to TVK's breakthrough, former BJP state chief K Annamalai acknowledged the electorate's call for change. Vijay plans to address social justice and promote a dual-language policy in the state. His father, renowned film director S A Chandrasekhar, expressed confidence in Vijay's leadership vision, highlighting his long-standing desire to contribute positively to society.
