In a significant political development, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) is emerging as the predominant party in the Tamil Nadu Assembly, signaling a potential end to the longstanding dominance of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) since June 1977.
DMK leader Kanimozhi NVN Somu urged acceptance of the people's mandate, stating the necessity to congratulate the victors and reflect on future strategies. Meanwhile, Congress MP Manickam Tagore stressed the importance of secular forces uniting to prevent the influence of 'RSS proxies' and hate politics in the state.
TVK leader Aadhav Arjuna dedicated the victory to the victims of the Karur stampede, highlighting the rejection of cash-for-votes practices and a shift in political sentiment. The results showcase actor Vijay's successful transition into politics, joining the ranks of iconic actor-turned-politicians in Tamil Nadu.
