China Condemns U.S. Sanctions on Cuba, Calls for Immediate End

China has called on the United States to lift its expanded sanctions on Cuba, labeling them as illegal and a violation of international norms. This follows heightened tensions after the U.S. broadened measures against Havana, citing interference in Cuba’s sovereignty and development.

In a bold statement on Tuesday, China urged Washington to promptly terminate its embargo and sanctions on Cuba. Beijing denounced these measures as 'illegal' and accused them of violating international relations norms.

This diplomatic tension escalated after the U.S. ousted Venezuela's leader, Nicolas Maduro, earlier this year. President Donald Trump, reinforcing pressure on Havana, signed an executive order expanding sanctions against the Cuban government.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry criticized the U.S. approach, calling it an infringement on Cuba’s right to sovereignty and development. China expressed its support for Cuba’s sovereignty and opposed external interference in its internal affairs.
