BJP Triumphs in West Bengal: Surpasses 200-Seat Target

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured a significant victory in the West Bengal assembly elections, winning 206 out of 292 seats. This remarkable result comes after Union Home Minister Amit Shah had set a high target of over 200 seats for the state elections.

Despite the assembly's full strength of 294 members, votes were only counted for 293 seats due to electoral malpractices in one area. Rajarhat Newtown's results remain pending though counting has concluded.

Rival party TMC won 80 seats, while Congress and AJUP secured two each. CPI(M) and AISF each managed to win one seat, according to the Election Commission of India.
