In a stark political critique, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut addressed the media, highlighting a significant misstep by outgoing West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. He accused her of making a 'big mistake' by not engaging in alliance talks with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi before the assembly elections.
The BJP's impressive victory in the 294-member West Bengal assembly, securing 207 seats, marked the end of Banerjee's 15-year reign. Raut argued that engaging Gandhi could have altered the election outcome, where Banerjee notably lost the Bhabanipur seat to BJP's Suvendu Adhikari.
Despite setbacks, Raut remains hopeful for the Opposition India bloc's future, comparing current BJP successes to historical political fluctuations. Drawing parallels to Indira Gandhi's past tenure, he speculates that the BJP, too, may face eventual electoral challenges.
