The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has accused West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of committing 'constitutional blasphemy' by refusing to resign following her party's defeat in the recent assembly elections.
During a press conference in Kolkata, Banerjee alleged significant irregularities in the counting process, contending that her party, the Trinamool Congress (TMC), faced a deliberate attempt to undermine their mandate.
BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla compared Banerjee's actions to the January 6 Capitol attack in the U.S., arguing that it undermines the constitutional foundation and the principle of peaceful transfer of power.
