Top Congress leaders, including ex-party head Rahul Gandhi and Tamil Nadu state unit In-charge Girish Chodankar, deliberated on the request by Vijay for Congress backing. K C Venugopal, Congress General Secretary, highlighted the party's stance on ensuring a secular and constitutional governance model in the state.

Vijay's TVK secured 108 out of 234 seats in the Tamil Nadu Assembly but fell short of a majority, seeking an alliance to meet the simple majority requirement. The Congress, having secured five seats, is pivotal in this decision. The final call, honoring the electoral verdict's sentiment, is awaited.
