In a pointed critique, PDP president Mehbooba Mufti has slammed the ruling National Conference, accusing them of politicizing religious texts to distract the public from their governance shortcomings. Mufti urged NC to exclude religious scriptures from political discourse.
This response came after NC officials suggested that Mufti and her MLAs should swear by the Quran regarding their voting choices in the previous year's Jammu and Kashmir Rajya Sabha elections. Accusations have swirled following an RTI response indicating PDP didn't appoint a chief agent for that election.
Mufti further lambasted the government for failing to address pressing issues such as demolitions under the guise of drug combat, dismissals of employees, and challenges faced by merit students. She advised NC to focus on political battles without invoking religious texts.
