The political landscape in West Bengal is once again under scrutiny following the tragic death of Chandranath Rath's son, barely 48 hours post the Assembly poll announcements. Rath's son, an executive assistant to Suvendu Adhikari, was reportedly killed as a fallout of Mamata Banerjee's electoral defeat to Adhikari in Bhabanipur.
The shocking incident occurred when bike-borne assailants intercepted and fired at the vehicle near Doltala in Madhyamgram, fleeing the scene immediately. Rath's grieving mother is now seeking a life sentence for the perpetrators and links her son's death to publicly uttered threats during poll campaigns.
Highlighting the alleged political vendetta, Rath's mother expressed that her son was targeted for his role in the Nandigram and Bhabanipur elections. This incident raises concerns about rising political violence and its ramifications on electoral processes.
