The Model Code of Conduct (MCC), in effect since March 15 before the assembly elections, has been lifted in four states after election results, the Election Commission confirmed on Thursday.
However, it remains enforced in West Bengal's Falta constituency where polling has yet to occur. This decision follows the declaration of assembly election results in Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal, and Puducherry, as well as by-elections in Gujarat, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Nagaland, and Tripura.
The Election Commission communicated the termination of the MCC to the chief secretaries and Chief Electoral Officers of the respective states while noting it will persist in Falta until the pending poll is conducted.
