Congress Halts Highways Over Farmers' Rights: A Stir in Indore

Congress workers blocked a national highway in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, protesting against the BJP's handling of farmers' issues. The demonstration, part of the 'Chakka Jam Andolan', led to heavy traffic and centered around demands for farmers' rights and accusations of mismanagement in the soybean 'Bhavantar Yojana'.

In a significant protest, Congress workers obstructed the Agra-Mumbai National Highway in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, on Thursday, highlighting numerous agricultural grievances against the ruling BJP. This blockade formed a part of the Congress' state-level 'Chakka Jam Andolan' and resulted in substantial traffic disruption on both sides of the highway.

Vikrant Bhuria, the National President of Adivasi Congress, conveyed to reporters that the state’s economy heavily relies on agriculture, yet farmers are continually deprived of adequate returns and justice under the current government. Bhuria alleged that the state-run soybean 'Bhavantar Yojana' is being exploited for massive corruption and accused the government of turning market yards into corporate hubs.

The opposition party has vowed to persist with the agitation in phases until the government addresses these concerns, signaling a readiness to escalate actions if necessary to secure the rights of the agricultural community.
