CPI(M) General Secretary M A Baby has called on Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar to adhere to democratic norms by inviting the Tamil Vivasayi Katchi (TVK) to form the government.
Speaking on the current political stalemate, Baby remarked on the need for the leader of the largest party in a fractured assembly to be given the chance to govern, drawing on the 1996 instance involving Atal Bihari Vajpayee as a precedent.
He expressed disappointment over the delay in invitation and highlighted that the governor's office should remain beyond suspicion, demanding a fair chance for TVK's Vijay to prove majority support while acknowledging the defeat of the CPI(M)'s alliance with the DMK.
