The Congress on Thursday took a swipe at Delhi chief minister over her heatwave campaign, saying a minister in the Modi government has already announced a heat action plan of ''Garmi ka ilaaj, jeb mein rakho pyaaz.'' The dig by Congress leader and former environment minister Jairam Ramesh was at Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia's recently shared ''age-old remedy'' of keeping an onion in his pocket, which he claimed he uses to beat the heat during peak summer. ''The Delhi CM has just announced a heat action plan for the nation's capital with a campaign theme of 'Garmi se jung, Delhi Sarkar ke sang'. ''Actually, her BJP colleague and a Minister of the Modi Government had already launched a heat action plan with the theme 'Garmi ka ilaaj, jeb mein rakho pyaaz','' Ramesh said in a post on X. Addressing a gathering in his home constituency, Guna in Madhya Pradesh, a few days ago, Scindia said that in today's age, everyone carries phones, but he carries an onion, as it helps regulate body temperature in scorching heat. He then pulled out an onion from his pocket to prove his point, much to the amusement of the gathering. ''I don't use an AC in my car, I just carry an onion in my pocket,'' Scindia said. ''Keep an onion in your pocket; nothing will happen even in 51-degree heat,'' the Union communications minister added.
