A political controversy has erupted in Thrissur, Kerala, after a flex board endorsing senior Congress leader KC Venugopal was allegedly put up by a Communist Party of India (Marxist) activist. The board, installed under the initiative "Save Congress," urged support for Venugopal as the potential next Chief Minister of Kerala.
The board's installation, reportedly by CPI(M) local committee member Aravasery Mohammed, sparked a clash between the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) and the ruling CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF). CCTV footage alleged to capture the act has fueled the dispute further, with social media amplifying the controversy.
In response, the UDF district committee filed a police complaint and staged a protest march, claiming the installation as an intentional act by CPI(M) to sow discord within Congress. Despite UDF's recent electoral victory, it faces criticism for delaying the announcement of a Chief Minister candidate, a point highlighted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
