Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni has been inaugurated for a seventh term, extending his leadership tenure, which began in 1986, into a fifth decade. The election victory, with Museveni securing 72% of the vote, was clouded by instances of violence and allegations of electoral fraud.

During the swearing-in ceremony, Museveni emphasized his administration's economic accomplishments, forecasting a double-digit growth rate fueled by upcoming crude oil production. The country's economy is expected to experience significant expansion in the upcoming fiscal year.

Despite his victory, speculation looms over Museveni's potential successor, with considerable attention focused on his son, military chief Muhoozi Kainerugaba. Opposition leader Bobi Wine, twice defeated and now in exile in the United States, remains a vocal critic of Museveni's regime.
