Amid the anticipation of portfolio allocations for new ministers in the Uttar Pradesh Cabinet, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav has voiced skepticism about the process. On Friday, he questioned whether the portfolio slips would be influenced by the BJP's top brass, insinuating undue influence.

On May 10, the Yogi Adityanath 2.0 ministry welcomed two cabinet ministers and four state ministers, with two being promoted to independent charge. This expansion follows an earlier one in March 2024. Yadav accused the BJP government of delayed allocations due to conflicting interests and corruption, urging the public to monitor the ministers’ actions closely.

Highlighting public dissatisfaction with corruption, Yadav stated that social media and citizen journalism remain crucial for accountability. He also claimed the BJP, recognizing this term as their last in power, is in a rush to exploit resources ahead of the state’s assembly elections set for next year.
