Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Slams Post-Election Fuel Price Hike

Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah criticized the Modi government's decision to increase petrol and diesel prices after assembly elections. He demanded a rollback, citing undue burden on common people. Fuel prices rose by Rs 3 per litre amidst global crude price hikes. The NEET exam re-examination has been rescheduled for June 21.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has fervently criticized the Narendra Modi-led central government for escalating petrol and diesel prices shortly after the assembly polls ended. The CM called for an immediate rollback of the hike, asserting it's a heavy burden on the common population, including farmers and laborers.

The recent hike saw an increase of Rs 3 per litre for petrol and diesel, marking the first rise in over four years. This comes amidst global crude price surges linked to the West Asia conflict, and shortly after elections concluded in multiple states including West Bengal and Assam.

In addition to fuel price concerns, Siddaramaiah highlighted issues related to the NEET exam mishandling. The exam was cancelled following alleged irregularities, and a re-examination is scheduled for June 21. This will be part of a move to shift the exam to a computer-based format from next year.
