The Communist Party of India (Marxist) in Keralam, led by State Secretary MV Govindan, has confirmed that the Left Democratic Front (LDF) will attend the swearing-in of Chief Minister-designate VD Satheesan. This follows the United Democratic Front's (UDF) significant triumph in the 2026 Assembly elections.
VD Satheesan, officially named the next Chief Minister by Congress, will be inaugurated on May 18 at Lok Bhavan, marking the end of the LDF's decade-long governance. The UDF's victory secured 102 seats in the 140-member Assembly, with Satheesan gaining his sixth win in the Paravur constituency.
Addressing the press in Kannur, Govindan remarked that the LDF would not boycott the ceremony, unlike previous UDF decisions. He assured that internal discussions about their electoral defeat are ongoing within the party's ranks, signaling a commitment to a constructive opposition role.
