UDF Independent MLA Mani C Kappan has publicly voiced dissatisfaction with the current proposed Cabinet allocation, arguing that all members of 'Team UDF' should be included. His comments came following a meeting with Cardinal Baselios Cleemis, emphasizing his need for clarity on his prospective ministerial role.
During a UDF meeting last Saturday, Kappan was extended an offer for a 2.5-year ministerial tenure, after which Kerala Congress (Jacob) leader Anoop Jacob might assume the position. Kappan, however, seeks confirmation on a full tenure promise allegedly made by senior leaders during the election campaign, sparking ongoing discussions.
Kappan expressed his willingness to remain cooperative while emphasizing his contributions as an international volleyball player, drawing parallels between politics and sports about team reliance. He mentioned his engagement with Cardinal Cleemis was personal, unattached to his political ambitions, and aimed to maintain friendships irrespective of political pressures.
