An impressive voter turnout of 69.16% was recorded during elections for 51 urban local bodies in Himachal Pradesh, with peaceful polling as confirmed by State Chief Election Commissioner Anil Khachi.

Voting proceeded in four municipal corporations and various nagar panchayats and councils. However, the day was marked by the unfortunate death of a 70-year-old voter, Anjan Sharma, reportedly from a heart attack. The elections were significant for the female voter turnout, which surpassed male participation in Kangra and Mandi districts.

Former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Shanta Kumar cast his vote, underscoring the festival of democracy, emphasizing the need to elect honest leaders to combat corruption. The counting of votes has commenced, while electronic voting machines remain securely stored pending the tally for municipal corporations.
