In Puducherry, AIADMK legislator A Anbalagan was appointed as the pro tem speaker of the Puducherry Assembly during an official ceremony on Monday at Lok Niwas. The oath was administered by Lt Governor K Kailashnathan in Tamil, amidst a gathering of prominent political figures.
Notable attendees, including Chief Minister N Rangasamy, BJP leader A Namassivayam, and Chief Secretary Sharat Chauhan, extended their congratulations to Anbalagan. The newly appointed pro tem speaker is set to administer the oath of office to new legislators on May 20, as the 16th Assembly of Puducherry is officially convened.
Anbalagan, who successfully retained his seat in the Uppalam constituency against the DMK in the recent elections, continues his political journey with AIADMK, a key component of the AINRC-led National Democratic Alliance.
